About Us
As long time collectors, we became actively involved in the toy soldier hobby in a commercial way when, in the mid 1970s, we purchased a large number of old original Barclay & Metal Cast factory production molds. Our hobby then grew into a small business, and in 1981 we began doing business under the fitting name: Vintage Castings. Today we offer a very limited number of American Dimestore Soldiers, Christmas Figures, and Vehicles from these molds.
In the mid 1980s we began publishing Toy Soldier Review magazine. TSR was the first professionally produced and printed Toy Soldier magazine. Printed on glossy stock paper, with spot color and typeset copy. Toy Soldier Review enjoyed an almost twenty year run; unfortunately, it required too much time, effort and money to ever become profitable.
Perhaps, we are most noted for being the sponsor of the Annual East Coast Toy Soldier Show & Sale. In the 1980s we sponsored our first East Coast Toy Soldier Show & Sale. Now twenty-six years later, our show has grown to be the largest and best attended Toy Soldier Show on the East Coast.
